3 idiots has been a long awaited movie especially among the college going guys. After tasting the magic of masti, love, sorrow that friends share in films like Rang De Basanti and Dil Chahata Hai, ‘3 Idiots; has been a much expected one. Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani;s formula always work and the proof is Munnabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai. If their ‘Jadoo Ki Jhappi; and ‘Gandhigiri; worked in the past then ‘All Izz Well; also has been able to mesmerize the audience.
‘3 Idiots; is fun-filled, engrossing and thrilling. No moment in the film is boring or you will feel that it is simply dragging forward. Apparently based on Chetan Bhagat;s ‘Five Point Someone;, 3 idiots takes the story beyond the college campus to the reality of life. The social message behind the film is very noble and factual. It has been able to catch the nerve of the audience. The film has many positivity attached to it.
The anticipation was high as it has come from the successful filmmakers like Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani's closet. Secondly, the Rang De Basanti stars like Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan again come together. Thirdly, Kareena Kapoor has been paired first time with Aamir Khan. All those factors bring lots of expectation from the film.
Engineering college life has always been entertaining and same was the case with three students Farhan (R Madhavan), Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi) and their third friend Rancho (Aamir Khan). The three holds different opinions towards education. They were forced to take the subject that they do not like. In spite of playing all types of pranks, Rancho managed to top the class. The story stars with a flashback. Two friends Farhan and Raju Rastogi are on the way in search of their lost friend Rancho who suddenly went missing on Graduation Day after being awarded the Student Of The Year title.
Rancho is different from all the students of the engineering college. He has his own set of mind which is totally different from others and his opinion and rebellion nature sometimes invites trouble for him. He is an irritation for the principal of the college (Boman Irani) but love for his daughter Pia (Kareena Kapoor).
The relationship that friends in college share has been very beautifully portrayed in the film. Post interval, the story turns slightly serious and mysterious but soon the mystery unfolds. Hirani has dealt all the emotions of the film very brilliantly. He is incredible. Hirani and Joshi's screenplay adds to the fine work of the film. Muraleedharan C.K.'s cinematography is overwhelming.
Shantanu Moitra's music sounds plain but when the music and picturization go simultaneously, it was effective.
Speaking about performances, Aamir Khan again shines in this film. He was superb in every department of acting. Madhavan also created a strong impact. Sharman Joshi was equally superb. His role was a tough one to portray but he has done full justice to the role. Kareena Kapoor might have a small role to portray but she was effective, her style and acting again looked upon. Boman Irani;s mannerism and dialogue delivery are up to the mark.
In the nutshell, 3 Idiots is not at all an idiotic film. It is one of the finest works of the actors and directors. Watch 3 Idiots with family as it is quite refreshing. Good Christmas gift from the Raju and Vinod.
